Playground
The Playground lets you call the open API without writing any code: pick a platform, type a question, and send it to see the AI’s answer, its cited sources, and the full response structure. When you’re happy with the result, copy calling code for the same parameters straight into your project.
Send a request
Section titled “Send a request”-
Open the Developer Console and go to Playground.
-
Fill in the parameters:
- Platform: the AI platform to ask. A Degraded platform shows a warning that requests may be slow or fail occasionally; a platform under Maintenance isn’t accepting tasks, and submissions are rejected right away without being billed.
- Question: what you want to ask the platform. You can also click Try to use a sample question.
- Country / region: applies to Global platforms only — the platform is accessed from a network exit in that country, and answers can vary by region. Platforms in China are always accessed from mainland China. Defaults to Auto.
-
Check the Estimated cost shown on the page, then click Send request (or press ⌘ / Ctrl + Enter).
-
Wait for the result. The page walks through stages — Submitted, Queued, Crawling, Done — and shows how long you’ve been waiting. Crawls usually take tens of seconds to two minutes, plus queue time.
Inspect the result
Section titled “Inspect the result”The response panel has three tabs:
- Preview: the answer rendered close to how the platform shows it, the list of sources, and an Open on platform share link. Failed tasks show the error code and details.
- JSON: the complete response JSON, with the same fields Retrieve a Task returns from the open API — handy for checking your parsing code.
- Code: calling code for the current parameters in cURL, Python, or Node.js. The API key is read from the
MAXAEO_API_KEYenvironment variable, and the snippet covers the full flow: submit, then poll every 15 seconds until the task finishes.
The top of the response panel also shows the Task ID, Duration, and Cost in credits.
Billing and rate limits
Section titled “Billing and rate limits”- Playground requests always run as P1 Priority and are billed at the P1 price. Failures are free.
- They share your account’s credit balance and the concurrency and per-minute submission limits with your API calls. If your balance is too low or you’re over a limit, you’ll see a message right away and no task is created.
- Playground requests are recorded in Request Logs with the source Playground.
Replay from Request Logs
Section titled “Replay from Request Logs”In a request’s details in Request Logs, click Replay in Playground to load that request’s parameters into the Playground, tweak them, and send again. A replay creates a new task and is billed at P1 like any Playground request.
